Mrs. Mullen

I know the last two years have been very different, and challenging for everyone.  I hope that we can function as close to “normal” as possible this year.  I am looking forward to this school  year and to all of the new experiences it will bring.  For me, teaching Math Intervention is a new experience!

I have been teaching special education since 1994. I have worked in all of the elementary schools in Tiverton, except Ranger School.  I have always been at Pocasset, and sometimes split my time there with Fort Barton or Nonquit - which in no longer a school!  That’s how long I have been around!  I decided that it was time for me to give Ranger a try, since it is the only elementary school I haven’t worked in yet.  I also decided to leave special education and just focus on mathematics.

My passion for teaching really shines when I am  helping students who struggle to learn in typical ways.  I have a Master’s degree in special education.  I love finding the best ways for students to learn and to help them to believe in themselves.  I can’t wait to share my love of learning with your child.

I have three children, Molly (19), Connor (18) and Maggie (12). Molly is in college, studying to become a nurse.  Connor and Maggie go to school in Portsmouth, where we live.  My husband’s name is Dennis and he is the New England Division Safety Director for Gilbane Building Company.

Based on current assessment data and/or classroom performance, some students could use some additional support with her/his math.  It is my goal, as the Math Intervention Teacher, to provide your child with extra support in math.  I will be working with your child 2 days a week for 40 minutes in a small group.

At Ranger School we have regular assessments throughout the year to identify students who could use extra math support.  These assessments help teachers plan instruction for each student’s individual needs.  Your child’s teacher and I will continue to monitor her/his progress to determine if math support is still needed or if she/he can exit the Math Program.  If you would like to discuss any questions or concerns, please call me at 624-8467 or contact me at amullen@tivertonschools.org

Sincerely,
Mrs. Amy Mullen
Math Interventionist
